Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. As a young girl, she relocated from London to Oxfordshire where she attended the Dragon School. Emma's goal was to be an actor. When she was 6, she enrolled in the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch, where she took classes on singing, acting, as well as dancing. As early as age ten she was involved as the lead in numerous Stagecoach School plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Emma was discovered by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been picked for these characters. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's screen debut took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in the year 2001. It also was one of the top-rated films during 2001. The opening weekend and day the sales were record breaking. Reviewers were awed by the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's acting "amazing". Emma's performance was recognized and later won awards in the film.
