Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC TV series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. After the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington Ohio in order to settle at Los Angeles. Her first role came to her in the film, Rachel's Room's main character in 2001, despite having a difficult time in the financial department. In 2002 she was nominated to receive an Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace was Shannon Rutherford on the Lost TV show in 2004. The show featured her as the principal protagonist for two seasons and won an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. After leaving the show, Grace was keen to work as a film actress, and had played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The actress has also appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 and in Taken opposite Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She reprised her role in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern adaptation to the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series in the final two episodes as Shannon. In 2013, she was a guest in the sixth season of Californication. She plays Faith, who is the muse and fan of the actors. She belongs to the Gyllenhaal family and is the sister to Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as a teenager with small roles in several of her father's films and appeared with her brother in the cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal's leading roles in Secretary, an erotico-romantic comedy, and Sherrybaby (a dramatic) received her nominations for Golden Globe Award. She gained wider recognition when she portrayed Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercial films that she was a part of the year the year 2006. She received a nomination for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mother as she appeared in Crazy Heart. The following years she appeared in comedy and dramatic films: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. Her other roles include a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) as well as a singer in Frank (2014) as well as her role as the lead in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a director and writer in 2021, with her psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For the film, she won the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award.
